The Pilates EdgeTM is excited to be the home of the first Polytrauma Pilates program in Oklahoma; a program designed to help injured veterans improve their lives through Pilates.

The kinds of injuries that are common in modern warfare (spinal injuries, loss of limbs, etc.) involve enormous systemic damage, which affects soldiers long after the injury has “healed.” Traditional rehabilitation programs help soldiers adapt to the new ways that their bodies function, and to learn to control muscles that have been affected by the injury.

Our Polytrauma Pilates program aims to take that rehabilitation even further, and to help injured veterans attain a fitness and mobility level that they may have thought impossible. This program is not designed to replace traditional rehabilitation, but rather to work hand in hand to offer veterans an opportunity for more complete recovery. While traditional rehabilitation focuses on major muscle groups, Polytrauma Pilates focuses on smaller stabilizer muscles and on core muscles that interact with the rest of the body. By doing so, injured veterans are able to gain more control and see a dramatic increase in their ability to move, exercise, and simply go about their daily lives.
